San Bartolo Tourist Pole

San Bartolo is 48km South of Lima, and is a small town dedicated to fishing and tourism. In the decade of years 60 and 70 it was a site of great tourist attraction and prosperous economic and social development.

Nowadays it suffers from great problems. The region maintains its natural wealth and beauty, but it has fallen into an economic crisis. Among the problems is land invasion, poverty, unemployment and an increasing violence. In addition, there is a negligence as far as the urban and environmental preservation of the zone.

Together with the local municipality, the Pastoral Center and the settlers, CREATIO has a project to revitalize San Bartolo as a tourist pole. Through the reconstruction of the Church and the central park, as well as the reconstruction of viewpoints and routes of access, CREATIO looks to revitalize the town through environmental work and urban reconstruction.

That certainly implies great cooperation and collaboration on the part of the interested sectors. Thus also it is a point of contact between people. The union of the local settlers through fundraising campaigns and the support of the Pastoral Center San Pedro Apostle are the center of activities and the spirit of the project. This union allows us to reach a common agreement and to work by the reconciliation with the environment and with ourselves.
