About us

CREATIO is a non-profit organization that promotes reconciliation between humans and creation as a response to the environmental problem. Reconciliation is a positive approach that seeks integration and synthesis rather than conflict, dissension and opposition.

Its members are volunteers and professionals of distinct specialties working in an interdisciplinary and integral approach, supported by companies and institutions. Our goal is to restore the harmony between humans and nature through an active transformation of ourselves as well as our surroundings.

Mission Statement – A Path of Reconciliation

The environmental problem and environmental studies are a complex and diverse reality requiring a multidisciplinary approach. The environment that surrounds us, created in harmony and beauty, is under great stress and the crisis demands an attitude of urgency on our part.

We recognize that underlying the environmental problem is the human problem. “The truth is that the imbalances under which the modern world labors are linked with that more basic imbalance which is rooted in the heart of man.” (GS10) This rupture within oneself manifests itself in a rupture with creation and its destruction due to selfishness, having at its roots the rupture with the Creator.

Therefore CREATIO recognizes reconciliation with nature, as well as reconciliation with others, oneself and God, as the solution to the environmental problem. Creatio therefore proposes to seek reconciliation in varios areas:

  • INTELECTUAL: We must undertsand in our minds the environmental problem and situation in order to know what to do.
  • SPIRITUAL: The contact with nature helps us to open up to our own deeper self and to God. In this way the effort to find internal and external harmony becomes personal and authentic
  • ACTION: What we understand and feel must be made concrete through effort and labor. We must act through projects and works in order to positively transform the environment that surrounds us and thus achieve a greater harmony.

The framework for our projects has at its base civic environmentalism which seeks reconciliation through human solidarity and cooperation. We find civic environmentalism particularly conducive to the reconciliatory process, yet we do not exclude other approaches that seek to restore the correct relationship between humans and creation.

We work closely with Solidarity in Action, Sacro and other organizations that seek to transform and reconcile culture and human beings.
